Watercolor patterns

Still practicing with watercolors.
I'm starting to trust in my water color strokes.
It's not always beautiful,
but it always feels magical,
and most of all relaxing :)

I have to find a better way
of capturing watercolors though.
The above scans seem poor quality.
I have to get my DSLR out.

in my doodling journal ...

Looking through my doodling pages
from last year.
What didn't mean much at the time,
now seems quite interesting to me now ...

When no roses are blooming in my garden ...

I buy some at Trader Joe's,

or paint some :)

Wishing everyone an inspiring day!

When my circles painting don't resemble
Yao Cheng's beautiful painting,
well, ... doodle over them!

Watercolor with Creativebug

This year I am starting up my creative journey
by trying out Creativebug.
I have tried Skillshare
(which I like, but not love)
and Big Picture Classes
(which is okay, but after a while a little boring).
So far I LOVE Creativebug.

I started with Yao Cheng's watercolor classes.
She is very talented,
and I love just watching her paint.

Below are a few practice swatches inspired by her.

I think I have written about this before,
but I am more and more convinced
that with watercoloring, quality matters.
The quality of the brush,
the quality of paper, and
the quality of the water colors itself.
It doesn't necessarily mean expensive.
Target art has some great brushes,
but sadly kids watercolor doesn't work for me.

Anyhow, I am practicing as much as I can :)

Hope everyone is finding their creative groove!
Happy 2016!

A painting started a few months ago
and finally completed over the Christmas holidays :)
